Answers for churches: translation, follow-up, and the record
The questions churches ask before the first demo, with the answers we would give on the phone. Every page is meant to be useful even if you end up choosing something else.
The questions before the first demo
How much does church translation cost?
The honest answer has two numbers. One is on the invoice, the other is on the rota, and the second is almost always the one it fails on.
Does the congregation need an app for church translation?
No, and the question matters more than it sounds. It decides whether the visitor you are translating for actually listens on Sunday.
Church translation equipment: headsets, interpreters or AI?
Buy headsets if you have interpreters and one language. Use phones and software if you have more languages than interpreters. Most churches searching for “translation equipment” are in the second situation and do not know it yet.
Live Farsi translation for Persian-speaking church visitors
Persian-speaking congregations are among the fastest-growing in European cities, and most of their members first walked into a service they could not understand. A phone, a code, and a voice in Farsi is what changes that Sunday.
Live Armenian translation in church: what to expect, honestly
Armenian works, but it is not a language where every vendor is equally good, and a demo in English tells you nothing about it. Ask to hear it on a real Armenian sermon before you decide anything.
Church translation and the GDPR: where does the sermon audio go?
The audio leaves the building the moment you translate it live. That is fine under the GDPR, as long as you know where it goes, how long it stays, and that you can have it erased. Most vendors can answer those questions; few volunteer them.
Church translation software: six questions to ask any tool
Most church translation tools now offer a spoken voice and captions on the listener's phone. What tells them apart for your church is how they do on your own Sunday: how natural the voice sounds in your languages, how easily a visitor gets in, what happens after the service, where the data lives, and what it really costs.
Church AI translation: what it does, costs and how to test it
Church AI translation puts the service on each listener's own phone in their language, as a natural voice or as captions, from one QR code. It carries ordinary preaching cleanly and still slips on names, scripture references, quoted opponents and sung text; a glossary of your own names and a test in your own hall are what separate a Sunday that works from one that embarrasses the preacher.
How do you prepare a sermon for live translation?
A sermon translates better than almost anything else said in a church, because it is one person speaking in sentences. Most of what goes wrong is decided before the preacher stands up, and none of it needs the preacher to change how they preach.
What does church translation cost, bought piece by piece?
Bought separately, the pieces of one translated Sunday come to €700–3,300 a month at market rates: interpreter hours, captions, transcription, a writer for the newsletter, receivers for the room. Sanctavo's Starter plan is €97 a month and includes every one of them. The table below shows each row.
AI tools for churches: what they do on a Sunday, what to ask
Judge AI tools for churches by the job they do on a Sunday, not by the feature list. There are seven jobs, from translating the service live to turning a teaching series into a book, and one recording feeds all of them. This page lists the seven, the question to ask about each, and the price range to expect.
The journey, step by step
How does live translation on phones work in a church?
The whole system is one audio feed going out of the building and one web page coming back in. Everything a church has to set up sits at those two ends, and the first Sunday goes wrong at the ends, never in the middle.
How do you translate a church service live?
There are three ways, and the difference between them is rarely the technology. It is how many people you need every Sunday to keep it going, and whether your congregation has to install anything.
What happens to the sermon after Sunday?
The sermon that was translated live has already been transcribed, so the week after can be different: a clean transcript in every language, a summary for the newsletter, drafts for the website and social media, and answers to questions from the sermon itself. The church owns all of it.
Can AI write out a sermon as a faithful manuscript?
Yes, if it is written from the transcript and not from a memory of it, and if the person who preached can read it and recognise every point in the order they made it. A summary tells you what the sermon was about. A manuscript is the sermon.
What is Church Memory, and why does week ten sound better than week one?
A glossary is what a church tells the system. A memory is what the system notices, keeps, and shows the church for approval: the names it says every week, the ministries it runs, the phrases it repeats. The first is right from day one; the second is why week ten sounds more like the church than week one.
How does one sermon become a newsletter, a blog post and a study guide?
By being written seven times for seven places, from the same transcript, rather than once and pasted. A newsletter paragraph, a blog article, a caption, a study guide and a manuscript are different pieces of writing with different readers; the tool that does this well writes each one from the sermon, in every language the church serves, and then waits for a person to read it.
What can a church know about who it reached, without tracking anyone?
More than a headcount and less than a profile. A church can know how many people listened, in which languages, how long they stayed and what they read afterwards, all counted without a name, a login or a cookie. Who those people are is a different question, and the only honest answer is: the ones who chose to tell you.
How do you follow up a first-time visitor who does not speak your language?
By making the first step theirs, in their language, during the service, and by putting everyone who took it into one list that somebody owns on Monday. A visitor who fills in nothing has not refused to be known; they were never asked in a language they could answer.
Is Sanctavo more than a church translation tool?
Live translation is the first step, and the reason most churches call. It is also the point at which most tools stop. Sanctavo keeps going: the same hour of speech becomes the transcript, the full message, the church's memory, a week of content, and a list of the people who chose to be known — for years, not Sundays.
Beyond the Sunday
Can a sermon series become a book or a study guide?
Yes, and the hard part is not the writing. It is deciding what a sermon series is a book OF, keeping every quote and verse honest, and giving the preacher the last word on each chapter. A tool that skips any of those three produces a transcript with a cover.
Can people ask a sermon a question afterwards?
Yes, if the answer comes only from what was said in that service and shows where. The useful version is not a chatbot that knows the Bible; it is a service that can be asked, in any language, what the preacher said about grace and works, and answers with the passage, or says it was not said.
