What a translated service costs, Sunday by Sunday

Churches ask the price before anything else, and the honest answer is a small piece of arithmetic rather than a number. Here it is, using only the numbers the pricing page states.

The unit: a Live Language Hour

One hour of one language, live, is one Live Language Hour. A ninety-minute service translated into two languages uses three: 1.5 hours × 2 languages. That is the whole formula. Captions come with the voice and are not counted separately.

One church, one month

Take a church with a ninety-minute Sunday service and two languages, say English and Farsi. A month has about 4.3 Sundays, so:

Starter is €97 a month and includes 10 Live Language Hours and 2 languages. The three hours above the ten are covered by one extra-time block, €35 for 5 more hours. So this church pays €132 a month, with a couple of hours to spare for a midweek service or a longer Sunday.

A church with a sixty-minute service and one language uses about 4.3 hours a month and stays inside Starter's ten with room for a second language.

When the next plan is cheaper

Growth is €247 a month with 35 Live Language Hours and 5 languages. A church that needs five languages, or that runs two services every Sunday, reaches Growth's numbers by adding blocks to Starter well before it reaches Growth's price — that is the point at which switching is cheaper, and the pricing page says so plainly.

What is not on the bill

There is no equipment to buy: the listener's phone is the receiver, the sound desk already exists. The plan counts hours and languages, not listeners: the same hour costs the same whether ten people or two hundred choose a language. Monthly plans cancel monthly; the yearly option is on the same page.

How to check your own number

Count the minutes of one typical service, multiply by the languages you would offer, multiply by the Sundays in a month. If the answer is under ten, Starter fits as it is. If it is between ten and about twenty, Starter plus a block. Above that, look at Growth. The pricing page is the only place the prices live, and this post will be wrong the day they change — so read the page, not the post.
